DO YOU HAVE THE MOTIVATION TO GET FIT, BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START?
YOU WANT TO! YOU ARE READY! BUT WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP, BUSY MOM?!
I specialize in helping women just like you find a lifestyle of fitness without taking them away from their families. As a mom of 4 boys, I completely understand the busy mom lifestyle. The thing is, I also know how important fitness is to your overall wellbeing.
HERE’S THE BREAKDOWN ON HOW TO GET STARTED:
Step 1: Get moving.
It doesn’t matter if you jog outside, run on a treadmill, use the elliptical, Stairmaster, bike, jump rope, etc. Get your heart rate up 3-7 times a week, working up to 30min increments. If you have to start slow, that is fine, but push yourself. It’s important to start being more active. This not only burns the calories you need to burn to lose weight, it makes your heart strong! So get more active momma! Today is a great day to be more active.
Step 2: Strength train.
The key to a fit body is muscle tone. The best way to build muscle is by strength training! Besides building a tight body, strength training has many many benefits. It combats osteoporosis, is great for mental health, it builds confidence, and more. Strength training is the step that seems to be the most intimidating for women. I have been there as well! With a plan in hand, you can do it! You just have to decide that you are ready to learn.
Step 3: Change the way you eat… slowly.
You know you have to. You know you really want to. That sluggish and tired way you feel has got to go. To feel your best, a diet full of veggies, fruit, good fats, whole grains, and lean protein is ideal. But all of those changes can be hard to make all at once. I suggest picking one thing to change every few days. Maybe start today drinking only water in exchange for sodas. Next week, rid the cabinets of all of the junk.
I think the biggest deterrent to you getting started is that “overwhelmed” feeling. I know you are busy and pulled in a million directions. But you really need this. Your family needs this. And you can do it by starting small. Just plan to be more active now. Start making it a part of your lifestyle. Time to lace up the sneakers, momma. You don't have to have all of the answers to just get started.
